Our Depict project was based on abusive which happens within
relationships. We decided to portray this through the use of contemporary
dance, using paint as a prop to show the pain that is spread in an abused
person’s life, physically and emotionally. We used instrumental music which
portrayed an angry environment. This showed the tense atmosphere occurring in
the relationship between the male and female.
I feel that our continuity throughout the filmed piece
worked really well. Each separate clip flowed to the next, creating smooth
transitions. In addition to this, the dance sequences worked well together. We
used various shots following our shot lists in order to capture the dance from
different angles and heights. I feel that our shots were quite basic and could
have been more creative, however still worked well. The props within our video
worked really well, as the black paint used created an eye catching view. The
black paint represented the pain, physically and emotionally, being put onto
the female by the male. I felt that this worked very well and created an interesting
element to our video.
I feel that Arina and I worked very well together, as we
both expressed our ideas and feelings in confidence. We shared out the duties
within our depict project evenly. I completed the location recce,
pre-production schedule, initial ideas proposal and prop/costume list and
budgeting list. Arina completed the shot list, risk assessments, person’s
talent, in addition to the storyboards which were very time consuming. Arina
filmed whilst I participated within the dance, however we both decided on the
shots and agreed which ones to use. We decided to edit the video together,
allowing us to develop our final project evenly.
If we could improve our depict video, I would use more
interesting and creative shots, in addition to spending more time filming. Due
to being outside, we had limited time to film due to depending on the weather,
e.g. the rain effected our filming. However, I felt that we created an
interesting and eye catching video, which gets our message across about domestic
violence.
Overall I feel that our Depict video fits the criteria, and
withholds and important message which the audience can think about after
watching our video. I feel that me and Arina worked extremely well together, as
we distributed the roles evenly, in addition to considering one another’s
ideas.
